Organization Meeting Results

I am happy to report a nearly clean sweep for the Tea Party/Liberty movement at last night’s CCRP Organization meeting. Lynda Wilson will be the new Chair with Steve Nelson as her Vice-Chair. James Randall and Laney Maxwell prevailed by wide margins in their races for state committee man and woman and will be representing Clark County and the Liberty movement on the WSRP committee. Kenny Smith, Kathy Metzger, and Eric Heredia all won their bids for LD Chairs. A new addition to the group, Vicki Caldwell Kraft, wowed everyone with her obvious competence and energy and sailed through the election to Secretary. It was the culmination of many months of organizing and hard work. Some of that work was in conjunction with campaigns, and some was in building a strong network that will serve the party for years to come. Much of the latter work will not be recognized as ‘legitimate’ by the old Establishment, but perhaps they view it differently after last night’s vote.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, the Republican party is fractured and in need of healing. Everyone needs to feel like they have a voice, and a way to be involved and make a difference without being shut down by their own party, as many of us have been over the past years. The battle for the soul of the party must transition into an outreach to all corners. The new board inherits a dying model, and an empty bank account. The grass roots team that sought these positions knew the obstacles set before them and still felt up to the challenge.

Congratulations, PCO Liberty Alliance. You are now on the clock.

  1. Kenny Smith says:

You forgot Doug Kobilan 14th LD Director. You might not know Doug, but a few years ago he asked to be appointed to the PCO position of his precinct and was ignored and denied. Now he is LD Director. Also Ron Fitch LD Director for the 20th. Most of us don’t really know him, but believe he will be an excellent addition to the team.

  2. Thanks, Kenny. I was unsure whether or not our part of the 14th and 20th LD’s would actually have the same vote as the three LD Chairs whose area is fully contained in Clark County. At any rate, congratulations also to Doug Kobilan and Ron Fitch.

Is there somewhere we can go to figure out what you are saying here. I understand the basics, that the Liberty minded folk are kicking A$$ in Clark County over the ‘GOP’ – ‘Establishment’ – ‘Sell-Outs’. So, the Liberty Alliance went all out grass roots and ended up with a pile of supporters as PCO’s (Precinct Committee Officers). What are LD chairs? WSRP? Secretary of what? Did the PCO’s get to vote for the new Republican Leaders in Clark County?

I have to admit, I had my doubts when you guys we’re all campaigning for Ron Paul. I ran for delegate because I had so much respect for Ron and just wanted to meet with people who had deeper understanding. I thought I was wasting my time, that a bunch of people couldn’t infiltrate the Mafia (GOP – Republican Establishment) and clean it up from the inside. You guys are proving me wrong. Keep up the good work! Keep this blog going and the emails, as I need to be supporting you guys better.

  4. Hi Damon. This blog was started for a few reasons, but one of the main ones was to chronicle the many facets of this process as they occurred, so that anyone could go back and read how it developed. I admit that I get lazy sometimes and write the abbreviations, etc. I am happy to define terms – I will write a post soon to this end.

I feel like I should clarify: I don’t think there was a lot of ‘infiltrating’ going on. Most of the new leaders have been in the party now for a number of years, just as Dr. Paul himself has been a Republican for decades. Initially, as we showed up for events and offered to help, we were told by party leaders that we were not wanted, and that we didn’t belong in the party. Since I have been a dyed-in-the-wool Republican my whole life, I did not respond to this treatment very well. I think Dr. Paul has awakened a lot of conservatives up to the fact that while we were sleeping, the moderate/statist power-elites have taken over the party and abandoned the more principled approach in favor of an ultra-pragmatic, win-at-all-costs mentality designed to preserve power for a few and demand the support of the many. The PCO Liberty Alliance is one of many movements across the country to take the party back for the true conservatives and give the voice back to the grassroots.
